I think that this point it would be appropriate to post my favorite music video. This video in particular won Viewer’s Choice, Best New Artist, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Directing, and Best Special Effects at the 1986 VMA’s. It was also nominated for five other awards.
What video could grab so many awards, you ask? “Take on Me” by the Norwegian A-ha, of course. It’s use of rotoscoping (animating over live footage) is just fantastic:
And as if a-ha needed any more awards, they won Best Editing and Best Cinematography for their follow up video “The Sun Always Shines on TV”.
